JobCatz started as a weekend project for my wife.

She was looking for a job, and the search process was surprisingly bad. LinkedIn and Indeed were useful, but incomplete. Some postings were stale, some never showed up, and a lot of time went into trying slightly different searches across different sites just to figure out what was actually out there.

So I built a small AI search tool around the way she was already searching.

Then came the cats.

At first they were mostly a joke. Job searching is repetitive, awkward, and weirdly demoralizing, and the tiny rewards made it easier to come back. Apply to something, move a role forward, make progress, give the cats new accessories. It was silly, but it helped.

But it worked.

She found a posting she would have missed. It was not even on LinkedIn yet.

She applied.

She got the job.

I kept working on JobCatz because the problem seemed bigger than one search. Finding good roles is still weirdly manual, lossy, and dependent on knowing exactly what to type into the right box on the right site.

JobCatz is my attempt to make that part better: find the roles you would not have otherwise found, keep the applications moving, and give the cats something to cheer for.

Give it a try, and let me know what you think.
